Tendering Manager (New Zealand)

Position & Location

The Tendering Manager is a full-time role based in Auckland, New Zealand.

The Tendering Manager is part of the Sales Team and reports to the Commercial & Solutions Director.

Overview

The Tendering Manager will lead and manage the end-to-end tendering process for BW Digital products and services, including:

  • Connectivity: capacity and fibre solutions, including submarine cable and terrestrial fibre network.
  • Cable Landing Infrastructure-As-A-Service: turn-key solutions for the landing of new submarine cables, including local infrastructure (BMH, HDD Bores, Ducts, CLS, etc.) and O&M services.
  • Data centre: tailored, scalable data centre solutions for enterprise, cloud and AI workloads (inference and/or training)​​, including colocation, wholesale and built-to-suit.

The Tendering Manager is responsible for developing competitive proposals, coordinating technical and commercial inputs from cross-functional teams, and ensuring compliance with client and company requirements.

You will play a key role in shaping BW Digital’s commercial success by translating opportunities into winning bids, elaborating technical and commercial offerings in relation to BW Digital assets, capabilities and strategy, building strong relationships with vendors and partners, and maintaining a disciplined tendering process.

Key responsibilities

Tender Management & Strategy

  • Lead the preparation, coordination and submission of tenders, proposals and responses to RFI/RFQ/RFP.
  • Develop bid plans in collaboration with key stakeholders (Sales, Projects, Engineering, Finance and Legal).
  • Elaborate, challenge and validate customised solutions, as a key interface between technical teams and sales managers.
  • Review tender documents, identify key requirements, risks and opportunities, and ensure alignment with company objectives and compliance standards.
  • Define and manage tender timelines, deliverables and ensure timely and high-quality submissions.
  • Coordinate post-tender clarifications, negotiations and contract finalisation in partnership with the technical, commercial and legal teams.

Technical & Commercial Coordination

  • Liaise with Project, Engineering and Operations teams to gather and qualify inputs for solution / scope definition, cost estimation and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors and consultants to obtain competitive quotations and technical documentation.
  • Work closely with Project and Finance teams to develop cost models, cash-flow forecasts and pricing strategies that balance competitiveness and profitability.
  • Maintain an updated cost database and benchmarking metrics for materials, equipment and labour relevant to the Company projects.

Governance & Documentation

  • Ensure all tender submissions comply with internal approval processes, documentation standards and contractual requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of tender correspondences, approvals and revisions.
  • Support the continuous improvement of BW Digital’s tendering framework, templates and tools.

Stakeholder & Market Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners and suppliers to enhance BW Digital’s market intelligence and competitiveness.
  • Conduct post-tender reviews to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor pricing and industry developments to optimize the Company offering and commercial strategy.

Qualifications & Experiences

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in tendering, bid management, or commercial roles within telecommunications, data centres or EPC sectors.
  • Proven track record in preparing and winning medium-to-large-scale infrastructure tenders.
  • Strong technical expertise in digital infrastructure and associated procurement process.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and tender management tools.
  • High attention to detail, strong organisational discipline and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
