NDP1 Campus EHS Manager (Batam)

Position

The NDP1 Campus Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is a full-time role and will be part of the Data Centre team.

Based in our offices in Batam, Indonesia.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced EHS manager to oversee the developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive EHS program for a hyperscale data center campus under landlord operations.

This role is to ensure full compliance with international standards, including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, industry best practices, and applicable Indonesian regulatory requirements K3 and environmental regulations. The EHS Manager will act as the designated AK3 certified safety authority, ensuring all operations and project activities are conducted in accordance with statutory obligations and global EHS frameworks.

This role is required to be operating within a 24/7 mission critical environment, the role is accountable for managing EHS risks across both live data center operations and concurrent base build and fit out works environment. The EHS manager is required to have safeguard personnel, critical infrastructure, and tenant operations through robust governance, risk management, and enforcement of safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

The EHS Manager has the following key responsibilities:

  • Act as Ahli K3 Umum and primary contact of all EHS related external authority engagement, including licenses application and maintain, audit, inspections and emergencies.
  • Lead implementation of EHS management systems aligned with ISO 45001, ISO 14001.
  • Ensure compliance with Indonesia K3 regulations and environmental laws.
  • Oversee EHS for all infrastructure system within NDP1 Data Centre.
  • Conduct data center facilities, area, equipment routine safety audits, inspections and operational risk assessments.
  • Govern safe simultaneous operations and Permit to Work Systems between live operation and construction.
  • Review and approve Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and JHA.
  • Provide safety inductions for all staff, contractors, vendors, visitors within the NDP1 Data Centre area.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve coordination protocols with external EHS related authorities, including Fire Brigade (Dinas Pemadam Kebakaran), Police Authorities (Kepolisian), Emergency Medical Services, Search and Rescue Agencies.
  • Lead Incident investigations and root cause analysis. Support post incidents coordination, including investigations, reporting, and corrective actions follow up.
  • Develop, review and execute Emergency Response Plan, ensure alignment with local authority requirements and response capabilities.
  • Lead, conduct and coordinate emergency drills, BCP drill. Joint emergency drills and simulations involving external agencies as when required.
  • Provide contingency plan and readiness during fire, power, diesel fuel and environmental incidents.
  • Maintain up-to-date emergency contact directories, escalation protocols, and communication plans.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental standards, waste management, chemical waste management, hazardous materials, spill prevention. Support sustainability and environmental performance initiatives.
  • Manage, monitor, review and close data centre EHS incident tickets.
  • Monitor and report EHS KPIs and performance metrics.

Qualifications & Experiences

  • Mandatory Requirements:
    • Ahli K3 Umum (AK3 Umum) by Indonesia Ministry of Manpower
    • Indonesian Confined Space Certification, Ahli K3 Ruang Terbatas
    • Preferred ISO 45001, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, General Certificated
    • Preferred Registered Fire Safety Manager/Officer, Petugas/Manajer Keselamatan Kebakaran
    • Preferred First Aid Officer, Petugas Pertolongan Pertama P3K
    • years of experience in security operations, preferably in data center, critical infrastructure, high security facilities.
    • Ability to establish and review Incident Reports, Root Cause Analysis Reports
    • Excellent collaborator with strong communication skills in English
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 7 years in EHS and corporate safety management
    • Experience in data centers, critical infrastructure working environments
    • Proven experience of managing safety in operations and construction stage (SIMOPS)
    • Strong knowledge of Indonesia K3 regulations and compliance frameworks
