Finance Manager (New Zealand)

The Finance Manager will be part of the New Zealand Finance team.

Parnell office in Auckland, New Zealand

Overview

Reporting to the Finance Director of BWD, the Finance Manager will be responsible for leading end-to-end financial operations while overseeing financial compliance across New Zealand, Australia, the United States, and Singapore. This includes managing the monthly accounting close, statutory reporting, tax and regulatory filings, external audits, internal controls, and Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, as well as managing a team of two accountants based in New Zealand.

The role’s key objective is to ensure accurate reporting, strong governance and effective financial operations in support of scalable growth across all entities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the NZ accounting team and report to the Finance director
    • Manage the two junior accountants in Auckland/NZ
    • Provide adequate support/guidance/supervision to the team
    • Report to the Finance director
  • Accounting
    • Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, ensure accurate billing, payments, and bank reconciliations.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant reporting frameworks: NZ IFRS, AASB/IFRS (Australia), and Singapore FRS.
    • Maintain accounting policies, chart of accounts consistency, and intercompany eliminations.
    • Own month-end closing processes and oversee subledger to GL reconciliations (bank, AR, AP, payroll, fixed assets, tax) and aging reviews.
  • Statutory Compliance & Tax (NZ, AU, USA, SG)
  • Manage statutory compliance across all relevant jurisdictions.
    • Ensure timely preparation and submission of tax returns, GST filings, and statutory accounts.
  • Audit & Statutory Accounts
    • Lead annual statutory financial statements preparation for NZ and coordinate AU/US/SG local statutory accounts with advisors.
    • Prepare audit schedules, technical memos, and responses to audit queries
    • Manage audit timelines, deliverables, and resolution of findings; maintain robust audit trails and documentation.

Qualifications & Experiences

  • CA / CPA qualification
  • 7–10 years’ experience in a role that includes the use of accounting software, financial modelling and analysis
  • Experience managing AR/AP and month-end processes
  • Exposure to multi-currency environments
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Fluency in English
