BWD owns and operates:

  • Hawaiki cable: a 15,000 km submarine cable connecting Australia, New Zealand, American Samoa, Hawaii and continental United States
  • Citra Connect: a network/connectivity provider in Batam/Indonesia

Our key ongoing developments include:

  • Connectivity: Hawaiki Nui (a new regional submarine cable), NCC (a subsea cable from Batam to SG), and other subsea infrastructure projects in Hawaii and Singapore
  • Data centres: BWD is currently in the construction phase of the BW Digital Campus at Nongsa Digital Park in Batam/Indonesia.

 

Position

The Data Centre Critical Facilities Manager will be part of the Data Centre team.

 

Location

Based in our offices in Batam, Indonesia.

 

Overview

The Data Centre Critical Facilities Manager role is to lead and oversee the 24/7 Data Centre Operations, maintenance, strategic management of mission critical infrastructure system. This role ensures 100% uptime, SLA, operational excellence, safety compliance, regulatory requirements and business continuity.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of Data Centre facilities, ensuring 100% uptime and compliance with customer SLAs.
  • Supervise vendor performance, including preventive maintenance, corrective actions, and service delivery quality
  • Lead incident response, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and implement corrective actions for infrastructure and equipment failures
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable local laws, regulations, code of practice, including those related to environmental, building, fire safety, electrical, hydraulic, and occupational safety and health
  • Maintain and enforce adherence to site operating documents, standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Method Operating Procedures (MOP), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP)
  • Ensure compliance and readiness with site held accreditation, including certification audits and customer audits
  • Oversee Change Management processes, risk assessments and mitigation, approvals, and communication of operational impacts
  • Develop and lead Facilities Engineers and Technicians through structured training, coaching and performance evaluations.
  • Participate in and witness commissioning and acceptance testing, review drawings, Operation and Maintenance Manuals (OMMs), Sequence of Operations (SOO) and validate Data Centre system integration
  • Collaborate closely with Security, HSE, ICT, Service Delivery, Projects and other internal and external stakeholders
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency, energy optimization Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE), cost effectiveness and resource utilization.

 

Qualifications & Experiences

  • 7+ years of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, BMS/DCIM experience in data centres, facilities, engineering operations in a managerial role, overseeing 24X7 operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring of multi-skilling teams, including technical staffs.
  • Ability to establish and review Standard of Procedure documents, Method of Procedure, Emergency of Operations documents, Incident Reports, Root Cause Analysis Reports, CAPEX/OPEX budget forecast, asset management, critical spare management.
  • Experience developing efficiency, environmental and cot optimization strategies
  • Excellent collaborator with strong communication skills in English
  • Exceptionally flexible, forward thinking and motivated by dynamic and face pace environment
  • Effective customer management skills and meeting chair experience
