BWD owns and operates:
- Hawaiki cable: a 15,000 km submarine cable connecting Australia, New Zealand, American Samoa, Hawaii and continental United States
- Citra Connect: a network/connectivity provider in Batam/Indonesia
Our key ongoing developments include:
- Connectivity: Hawaiki Nui (a new regional submarine cable), NCC (a subsea cable from Batam to SG), and other subsea infrastructure projects in Hawaii and Singapore
- Data centres: BWD is currently in the construction phase of the BW Digital Campus at Nongsa Digital Park in Batam/Indonesia.
Position
The DC Critical Facilities Engineer will be part of the Data Centre team.
Location
Based in our offices in Batam, Indonesia.
Overview
The DC Critical Facilities Engineer role will be responsible for operating, maintaining and improving all mission critical infrastructure (MEP) supporting the 24/7 uptime of Data Centre environments. Responsible for real time monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring system reliability and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain mission critical infrastructure MEP systems within specific parameters.
- Monitor building BMS/EMS/SCADA systems and proactively respond to alerts and abnormal conditions.
- Execute and document all scheduled Preventive Maintenance and corrective maintenance.
- Oversee and witness vendor-led maintenance and testing activities, ensuring scope of compliance, operational safety, and full system recovery post maintenance.
- Coordinate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure all construction, fit-out activities, system design, design, installation, testing and commissioning adhere to operational standards.
- Ensure adherence to site operating procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Method Operating Procedures (MOP), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP) and comply with Change Management protocols.
- Primary operation contacts customers, customer related activities; plan and coordinate customer-impacting works in alignment with SLAs and availability commitments.
- Local point of escalation during emergency events and day-to-day operations. Involvement on the on-call incident response roster.
- Attended witness commissioning and acceptance testing, reviewed and validated engineering drawings, Operation and Maintenance Manuals (OMMs), Sequence of Operations (SOO).
- Monitor operational metrics, data and conduct risks analysis assessments.
- Lead or support incident response, manage escalations, and contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure readiness for internal and external audits, maintain comprehensive operational documentation and support regulator, industry or customer driven compliance checks.
Qualifications & Experiences
- 2 – 3+ years of experience in facilities or operations management
- Fluent and able to communicate in English
- Knowledge of electrical or mechanical trade background or degree
- Ability to develop and review standard of Operations Procedure, Method of Procedure, Emergency of Operations Procedure, Incident Reports, Root Cause Analysis reports, asset management
- Knowledge of manage MEP, Security, ICT related Change Management
- Experienced of using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems, Customer Portals, BMS/DCIM
- Ability to effectively manage internal and external customers
